This simple outpatient procedure restores the normal function and appearance of the perineum.

Who is a candidate for perineoplasty?

If you feel laxity of the vaginal area during intercourse or you have decreased sensation during normal sex, you may be a candidate for vaginal tightening.  Women who have a history of traumatic vaginal deliveries or other traumas to the vaginal canal should be evaluated for vaginal laxity if they suspect it as a cause for sexual dysfunction or discomfort.

What is the Recovery for perineoplasty?

Most patients return to work within a few days after this procedure. Pain is managed by over-the-counter or prescription medication. In the first few days, some minor bleeding is not uncommon and wearing a sanitary pad is recommended. The incision should be kept clean and dry. Stitches usually dissolve in about two weeks. Patients are advised to drink plenty of water and increase fiber intake to avoid constipation. Most activities may be resumed in four weeks. Patients should abstain from sexual intercourse for six weeks or until directed by your surgeon.
